Don't Buy The Lie

We want to thank you for trick-or-treating with us this year!

We like Halloween because it reminds us that someday we all are going to die, so we should live life to the fullest. People have lot’s of ideas about what living life to the fullest really means, for me and my house we look to God and His son Jesus Christ for those answers.

When Jesus was on earth, he told us that there are those who want to steal the very joy of living from us. The thief, Jesus said, comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy, but I have come so that you may have life to the full. (John 10:10)

Not only did Jesus teach us how to live truly satisfying lives, but he also made a way for us to live eternally by paying the price for our offenses to God when he died on the cross.

You see, all of us have offended the perfect goodness of God, and for doing so there must be a punishment. (Romans 3:23, 6:23) None of us like seeing people who do evil get away with it, we want justice, and the same is true with God. Even those of us who are good most of the time, know that we often do things that are less than perfect. The Bible teaches that without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sin. (Hebrews 9:22) That blood is our blood!
Because God’s love is great, he made a way for us to have the punishment of our sin taken away. Jesus Christ, God’s son came to earth as a man and lived among us in history. Because he was God in the flesh and was born of a virgin, he was the only human to be born without the condition of sin in his life.

He lived a pure life so that he could shed His blood for us and thereby “pay” the price for our sins. After Jesus was nailed to a cross, they buried him in a tomb and three days later he rose from the dead! The evidence for his resurrection is amazing considering he appeared to several hundred people after he had died!

Do you believe this? If you do, the Bible says that if we confess Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that He rose from the dead, you will be saved from the punishment of sin! (Romans 10:9)

Please consider these things and if you have questions please contact Irving Bible Church or WisdomWorks Ministries and they can help you find other answers to questions you may have along with other Christian websites. It is important that you grow in your understanding of God and the life he offers. Following Christ is not about what happens after you die, it is also about how you can experience real life right now!

I’ve included a couple of chapters from my book, Don’t Buy the Lie, on Heaven and Hell.
